Use these questions with each company on your shortlist. Check them off as you compare the answers.

Will we approve a proof? What files do you need? Confirm the proof type and requirements for a print-ready PDF with bleed.
What is printed here? Who cuts, folds and binds it? Ask which steps happen in-house and which go to another supplier.
Can you mail the finished pieces? Can names, versions or languages change? Confirm list preparation, inserting and postage.
What is the minimum? When will it ship? Get a schedule based on your quantity, finishing and approved files.
Can we see similar work? Who handles questions? Request physical samples and a named contact for your job.

The right route depends on how much your job needs to be specified, checked and coordinated.
A standard size and paper work, your files are ready, and the available proof and delivery options suit the job.
You need direct mail, personalized versions, custom finishing, a printed proof or help meeting a deadline.
At United GMG, send us the files and counts; a person quotes the job.
Ask who handles each step and who keeps the schedule. A broker can coordinate specialties; a direct printer can reduce the number of companies involved.

Illustrative routes; the actual handoffs depend on the job. Print management companies can also coordinate ongoing programs.
